EXPOSURE

In the fashion industry, advertisements play an important role in modelling. Models are often featured in magazines and catalogues, as well as on television and the Internet. Although many individuals believe that fashion modelling just involves wearing different fashions and looking pretty. But there is much more to it. While a fashion modelling career can be exciting and glamorous, it is also rather demanding and stressful.

Fashion models should also have an outgoing personality and superb interacting skills. Since they will usually need to interact with a variety of different people while they are working. They may need to interact with stylists, makeup artists, designers, and photographers.

You could specialize in different types of modelling, like:

HIGH FASHION AND RAMP WALK

In fashion show modelling you’ll walk along, turning to display clothes in front of an audience. You’ll work closely with stylists, hair and make-up artists, producers and directors.

Before each show, models attend final fittings with the designers. They finalize what the model will be wearing and exactly how they will be presenting it. Once the outfits are selected and fitted, they’ll be hung on a rack. Usually with a picture of the model and any other special instructions.

Shows take place during all hours of the day and night, so many models work for the whole day. There are early call times for hair and makeup, and there are often high-end after-parties that models are expected to attend. That is necessary for networking in the modelling and fashion world.

Since most models walk several shows a day during the week, there is always a rush to get to every show on time; and if one of the shows happens to run late it can cause chaos for all the other shows scheduled afterwards. Models often run on minimal sleep and only have time to eat.

Part of being a model is always looking his or her best, which is hard to do when you’re running on little sleep, so a healthy diet and lots of water is essential. Luckily, models have some of the best hair and makeup people from the industry who also work wildly long hours to help models look their absolute best. Modeling course will help you to understand it in a better manner.

EDITORIAL SHOOTS

Editorials are the kinds of images that you see in the pages of Vogue or GQ. These shoots are the result of an idea and execution of a creative team.

These types of images meant to be created to get them published in a magazine or on a blog, just like we have done in our modeling course. Sometimes a magazine company hires a photographer directly to create the images, other times photographers and a creative team create the images first, and then submit them to publications. This is how the cycle runs between photographers, publications and magazine’s company to get the work done.

They don’t have a lot of rules on them. It’s a chance for photographers, make-up artists, hair stylists and clothing stylists to ponder over the ideas and get creative. These images are often the ones you’ll see which are the most daring or different. You can check some of the work in modeling course section.

They are always creative and loves to shoot because they’ve got so much creative freedom over them, but most of the time there is very little budget in editorial shoots. Magazines have a constrained budget to offer photographers for their shoots, but at the same time, a lot of them are created by a photographer and then sent to magazines.

Why do they produce them if they’re not being paid? Because they love them, because they add it all to their portfolio’s, because they’re a chance for everyone to try something new, and further their techniques.

COMMERCIAL SHOOTS

The brand organize a shoot that needs a new bunch of images to market their service/product. The particular shoot images are most often used for advertising, or for the social media.

For this kind of shoot, there is always a budget. This means that the brand has set aside money to pay for the images and the team involved in their photoshoot. Sometimes the budget is small, other times it’s big! It completely depends on the brand.

A brand mostly approached photographers based on the images in their portfolio. As these artists can easily connect with the work. They often ask photographers to shoot in the way that they would shoot their work, but with the brand in mind. So that just goes to show why personal editorial work is so important for photographers to create.
